TPS56339: OCP Function

Dear team,

In the SPEC, Maximum current is 3A. But High side current limit typical is 4.7A (Low side is 3.6A). How dose that maximum current be calculated? If our product output current is 2.1A, is OCP still 3A ? Is that possible to be reduced ?

It is fixed, and can't be changed. High side current limit typical is 4.7A (Low side is 3.6A).

So is that mean 4.7A (3.6A) is the peak inductor current ? 3A maximum means maximum RMS output current ? When load higher than 3A, output voltage will drop till it shut down but current will be stable at 3A ?

Hi,

Basically, you are right. But the output voltage is not constant 3A. If load current is large, and the peak inductor current exceeds 4.7A, the high-side current limit is triggered, and the peak inductor current is clamped to 4.7A, the output voltage starts to drop, if UVP is triggered, the converter shuts down.
