BQ25887: is I2C required for the BQ25887 chip to use it's auto cell balancing ability?

Part Number: BQ25887

Hello, I was wondering if the BQ25887RGER requires an I2C input in order to enable its auto cell balancing ability.  I was also wondering (in the case that I2C isn't required for the chip to have auto cell balancing enabled), if the chip can thus operate without any I2C input to it.

  • HI Jeremy,

This charger, including cell balancing, operates with default settings without I2C.  You can determine the default settings for each I2C register by looking for the (derfault) notification after the setting.
