LM46000-Q1: Would LM460000A-Q1 pass IEC61000-4-5 surge test

Hello team,

Hope you are doing well. Customer is using LM46000A-Q1 in their design and tested the part for 1KV/-1KV. The part did not pass as per the ratings in table 6.2 ESD ratings. Customer is asking if we can verify this device will pass IEC61000-4-5 surge test that is 500V/-500V.

    Do you know how customer test the ESD when it works or not work ,which function failued?

    is it failued in HBM test?

    See customer response below:

    1. Can you share insight into how you tested for ESD and under what conditions the part failed / worked/ did not work?----not ESD, the surge test ,the standard is IEC61000-4-5, after test , the IC is not output, then I test the Pin voltage, FB is 0.4V, CBOOT Pin is 1V.
    2. Also, which function failed? ---not output , input is in
    3. Did part fail in HBM test?  ---not HBM test, the test is in power port to input 1KV/-1KV.

    Hi Kalsi:

    ESD rating is different from surge test, the energy is different. for Suger test, customer need add extenral protection compoent like TVS to make sure that the no pin is out of its max votalge rating
