UC1843: Using the UC1843 in a 4-phase Buck Converter

Part Number: UC1843

Would you recommend using four UC1843 in a 4-phase buck converter design?  I use a 4-phase clock to drive each of the UC1843's RT/CT pins.

I simulated successfully a competitor's version of this IC in the 4-phase buck converter design.

A follow up question, does TI make a rad-hard multiphase buck PWM controller that I could use instead of the four UC1843's?

  • Hi Ken,

I think using four UC1843 devices to realize 4 phase work is OK if the driver capability of controller that generates sync signals is OK.

I think you also can use two interleaved buck controllers with synchronization feature to realize 4 phase work.

Can you provide the spec of buck converter, then I can check if I can find a multi-phase buck PWM controller for you?

    Regards,

    Teng

  • Hi Ken,  I haven’t heard back from you for quite sometime, I’m assuming you were able to resolve your issue. If not, just post a reply below, thanks.-----Teng
