Compiler/BQ78350-R1: SOC percent calibration

Part Number: BQ78350-R1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQSTUDIO, BQ78350

Tool/software: TI C/C++ Compiler

I Bought Battery management system from one of my suppliers with IC  BQ 78350 .

I wanted to increase the capacity of the battery pack from 23000mAh to 54000mAh but i am not able to change in data memory ..

  • Hi Harish,

If you are going beyond the maximum value for the capacity, you may need to use the BQ78350-R2 firmware. This firmware has the IPSCALE feature that can be used to scale current and capacity. This firmware can be programmed directly to the BQ78350-R1 device in the Firmware tab of BQStudio. Then you must copy the .bqz file from the firmware download to C:\ti\BatteryManagementStudio\config\.

    Best regards,

    Matt

  • Hi Matt

I have updated the firmware to BQ 78350 R2, but even though after firmware up gradation i am not able to change the design capacity ...

Can you suggest us with a solution about changing the capacity of the battery pack.

It will be great if you can access our system through remote channels about resolving this issue ...

If yes kindly share your contact details and email id

    Sincerely

    Harish

  • Hi Harish,

Your BQStudio window is still showing BQ78350-R1 in the Dashboard. You need to copy the .bqz file that was part of the BQ78350-R2 firmware download to C:\ti\BatteryManagementStudio\config\ and then restart BQStudio. Then it should correctly recognize the R2.

    Best regards,

    Matt

  • Dear Matt

after multiple trials i was not able to update that firmware BQ78350 R2 into BQ78350_R1..

Can you share us step by step procedure to be followed about the update of firmware .

It immediately goes to sleep mode once i click the program option in firmware ..

Please suggest us how to update the firmware

  • Hi Harish,

It looks like you are following the right steps. I suggest turning off the Dashboard in BQStudio (click on the green stripe on the top of the Dashboard) before clicking the Program button. If you see the message 'No acknowledge from device', try waking up the device again by pressing the BOOT button on the EVM and then click the Program button again.

    Regards,

    Matt

  • Hi Harish,
