LI-PO LI-ION conflict and current limitations for BQ78PL114 + BQ76PL102 Evaluation Kit

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ78PL114, BQ29410, BQ76PL102, BQWIZARD

Hi everyone

I want to use BQ78PL114 + BQ76PL102 Evaluation Kit as fuel gauge for my Li-PO battery pack. I have some questions.  Bq29410 is used as over voltage indicator in the evaluation kit and its threshold is 4.35 V. As known Li-Po max voltage is 4.235  . Is this difference is a big problem for the cells ? Can I use BQ78PL114 and the evaluation kit for Li-PO battery cells as well as Li-ion cells ?

In data sheet, it is said that BQ78PL114 is configurable for 110 amper and "The bq78PL114S12 firmware upgrade supports three sense-resistor options, 10 mΩ, 3 mΩ, and 1 mΩ." When I used 1 mΩ sense resistor, the power on this sense resistor will be 12,1 watt.  In industry, I couldnt find  a sense resistor that is usable with 12 watt power. Parallelling resistors is good option as used in reference circuits but my question is; Is the software of BQ78PL114 let me change the rsense resistor to 0.5 mohm without or with firmware update ? What is your rsense resistor solution to read 110 amper? Thanks
