LM5066I: Timer capacitor selection

Part Number: LM5066I

All,

When the selected timer capacitance is very close to the target timer capacitance, we get a Tfault very close to the target fault timer value. Would it be prudent to increase the selected  timer capacitor beyond the next standard value;  as per below instead of 22 pF go to 27pF, to account for parts tolerance etc,   or is there enough margin already built into the target timer capacitance.

Thanks,

Regards,

Joe

  • Hi Joe,

    Thanks for reaching out!

You can increase timer capacitance as along as the design meets the SOA margin. The tool does not consider the part tolerance but however a margin of 30% is treated to account for such dependencies.
