LMR33630-Q1: About the Junction-to-ambient thermal resistance

Part Number: LMR33630-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LMR33630

Hi Team,

Some customers report that the LMR33630 has exceeded the junction temperature of the IC when the input is 18V, the output is 3.3V, 2A, and the ambient temperature is 80 ° C.

Then the value in the data sheet is 72.5 ° C / W, which seems to be really high.  Is there any reason to avoid this?

Best regards,

Ansel

  • I am not 100% sure I understand your question.

However, as mentioned in the data sheet, the 72.5C/W is taken under conditions that do not normally apply

in the usual application circuit.  The values given in the graphs "RthetaJA vs copper board area" should be used as

a guide to the thermal performance that can be achieved.
