BQ4050: Chemical Fuse Replacement.

Part Number: BQ4050

Hi TI team,

I am trying to incorporate the BQ4050 into my new design but have encountered some problems in selecting the right components for my new design.

I would like to use FET instead of the chemical fuse, which allows preventing permanent damage to the battery pack. (if I am right as per the content in the link: https://www.epectec.com/webinar/12-15-2017/alternatives-to-chemical-fuses-in-battery-secondary-safety-circuits.html)

I am using a 3S2P configuration of battery pack Li-ion cells with capacity 3500mAh.

The voltage range of 18650 cells is 2.5V-4.2V with 2.5C discharge C-rating.

My dought is that:( note: I am not using AFE part of bq4050 schematic As it is an optional part.)

1. How do I choose FET instead of the chemical fuse? what should be the ratings of FET(V & I)?

2. what type of FET should I use?

any help is highly appreciated. thanks in advance.

Thanks & Regards
