Yuto,
The MUX is only necessary if you plan to share the D+/D- line with other devices that will be transferring data. If this is the case, a MUX can be used as a hardware solution for sharing D+/D- between devices. If your customer does not plan to use the D+/D- for anything else, then D+/D- can be connected directly to USB.
Thanks,
Ricardo
Hi,
Thank you for your reply.
Looking at the reference schematic of BQ25890, it says “Optional”.
Does BQ25886 require a MUX for connections like this reference schematic?
Does D + / D- pin become Hi-Z after detecting BC1.2?
Also, could you tell me how long that detection takes?
Our customer wants to connect this "Optional" connection directly.
I would appreciate if you could give me some advice.
I'm sorry for bothered you.
Best regards,
Yuto Sakai
Yuto,
If there is a host sharing the D+/D- line you will need to use the MUX or a software delay on the host to allow for the detection to occur first. The detection takes approximately 1 second. After the D+/D- detection flow is complete, the D+ and D- pins will go HIZ. I hope this clears everything up.
Thanks,
Ricardo
