TPS23756: Audible noise after implementing TPS23756 into our application.

Part Number: TPS23756

Hello,

We have implemented TPS23756 into our Wifi access point product which uses POE or external power from 12V to 48V. Whenever voltages is around 24V or 48V using adaptor, the TPS23756 (or its whole circuit including transformer, inductors or caps), there is a very low volume audible ringing occurring when the access point has started up during booting. After booting, around 1 minute, the noise disappeared.

Can anyone suggest what I can try to debug this issue?

Thanks

Duncan

  • Hello Duncan,

Thank you for your question. First, do you know if the DC-DC has started when the noise is occurring?

Second, can you narrow down the component(s) that are making the noise? For example, the transformer, or the output caps? This will help us narrow down where to look and the potential cause of the problem.

Third, can you provide a schematic?

Lastly, can you speak to the load during the booting period and there after? The DC-DC startup should occur within a second, so I find it interesting that it would make a noise for an entire minute and then go away if it is providing the same level of power throughout the operation.
