Hi team,
Refer to Table 11 in TPS53626 Datasheet, our customer choose ROCP=20kohm, but the test OCP value is still a littel large for them. So they're wondering if it's possible to connect a even smaller resistance to OCP pin to get a smaller OCP value? If possible, then do we have the range of minimum ROCP value?
If we cannot connect a smaller than 20kohm resistor to OCP pin, then how can we get a smaller OCP value? Could you please give some comments on that?
Thanks.
Best Regards,
Livia
Hi Livia,
There are only 8-level OCP that user can choose. If user puts R_OCP-I less than 20kohm, then the OCP value will be the same with the level of 20kohm.
If they want to design over current limit smaller, they will need to use higher DCR inductor, or use higher DCR sensing ratio to see if it helps. (normally>75%)
Thanks
Chasel
Hello,
There is not a lower OCP setting on this device. The pin detection is done digitally, and resistors lower than 20 k will still select the 4 mV level.
If you really need, you can try to increase the effective sense resistance (Requiv * Iocp gives the mV setting threshold) through the DCR or divider network, but this may require other modifications like the droop setting as well.
Hi Chasel and Matt,
Understood.
Thanks for the support.
