BQ25703A: Customer ask different charger to implement their system

Part Number: BQ25703A
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ24780S, BQ25713

Hi team,

The customer asks for charger solution but they do not prefer "buck-boost" architecture.

So based on customer's system, because the power source and battery voltage are both 12V, so they may need 100% duty buck charger solution, do we have?

Or do you have an alternative charger solution or any suitable reference architecture that can share with the customer?

Thanks

  • Hey Paul,

    Have you considered the BQ24780S?

This device has a direct power path from the adapter to the battery. However, if the battery is too high/too close to the input voltage, the buck charging stage will be disabled. Also, if the adapter is removed, your system will see the battery voltage.

Beyond that, we do not have any 100% duty cycle chargers. The best solution would be a buck-boost charger like the BQ25713 or a discrete linear charging solution.

Keep in mind that it is very difficult to find any solution that will both regulate charging current AND maintain 100% duty cycle operation.

    Regards,
