CCS/BQ500215: Required I2C interfacing for monitoring internal variables

Part Number: BQ500215
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: , BQ51221

Tool/software: Code Composer Studio

I have just purchased BQ500215EVM-648 and bq51221EVM-520 boards. For I2C interfacing communication I also purchased CodeWarrior USB TAP.

My question:

where can I get the USB TAP required driver and monitoring software?

Any protocol that describe how to monitor voltage, current and frequency of the coil in the bq500215EVM-648 using I2C?

Regards

  • Hello

Sorry but the BQ500215 is not recommended for new design and have very limited support.  Cannot support I2C question on this unit.

The BQ51221 I2C information can be found in the data sheet.

  • Hi Bill,

    Thanks for your reply.

My present laboratory research is not about a new design but applying wireless power transfer approach using development kits to investigate the influence of eddy current in metallic samples for sensing application.

With regards to I2C interface adapter, I re-ordered USB_TO_GPIO adapter. However, I need to have technical documents on how to facilitate  real-time monitoring of voltage, current and frequency of the transmitting coil in a bq500215EVM-648 using I2C.

  • This unit is NRND and we are not promoting or supporting the I2C.

I will contact you on the best way to meet your requirements.

  • You are interested in I2C interface of the BQ500215 for Current and Voltage.  Also mentioned operating freq, in this device the freq is fixed at 130kHz.

The voltage will change based on load and can be measured at the top of H bridge, TP18 the L2 C8 node.

The Bridge Current is available at TP8, sense resistor is 20m ohms and gain of INA199A1 is 50, will be 1V to 1A.
