BQ34Z100-G1: Part is not automatically recognized is I use "FW_VERSION" command button.

Part Number: BQ34Z100-G1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQSTUDIO,

Hi,

When I tested my board with a fresh part soldered, BQSTUDIO (Ver 1.3.86) can automatically detect my part bQ34z100G1 with 0100_0_16, Addr 0xAA (under the DashBoard)

However, if I hit the "FW_VERSION" in the command tab, the next time I boot up, the part isn't recognised in the target selection window as the autodetected device is 0000_0_00. I have the manually select 0100_0_16-bq34z100G1 device and receive a warning that the detected part is not compatible with this application. Once I do this, I am able to connect with the device but in the dashboard the device now reads bq34z100G1 with 0000_0_00, Addr 0xAA.

Reprogramming the part with a new firmware does not revert the firmware version back to 0100_0_16.

How do I ensure that the firmware is properly programmed?

With kind regards,

TzeWei

  • If you download FW to the target device, you should click click browse first to find the desired srec file, then click Program Button to start the download process, a dialog with progress status bar would pop up showing the download progress, once download process is completed, you need to click the Excute FW button so that the device would return to normal operation mode

  • Hello Steven,

Thanks. After further investigation with the BQ34Z100-G1 EVM board, it turned out that there was an issue with the board I was using which caused issues with I2C.
