TPS61088: TPS61088 is burn out very easy even no load

Hi team,

customer use TPS61088 in battery applicaiton, the schematic as below:

1. The issue is when the power up, turn on G2, the TPS61088 will be burn out, measure the pin4~pin7, all short to ground. This problem sometimes happen and sometime not.

2. TPS61088 also very burn out nomatter connect load or not.

could you help review this schematic and give your comments, thank you.

Dear Sir,

could u please post the spec of the inductor datasheet?

And by the way, what is battery voltage and the the turn on speed of G2?

And the last, please revise the R28 to 30k and C20 to 2.2nF. then check again.

Hi Helen,

the inductor spec is 4.7uH/5.6A, I will let customer provide the datasheet.

the batter voltage is 7.2V. I attached the G2 datasheet.

why suggest change R28 and C20 value? thank you

Because current compensation parameter may cause stability issue.

Thanks for the update. I can't find out whether this is a powder core or a ferrite core?

If it is of ferrite, it is very easy to be saturated during power on because of the big inrush current and soft startup current. And even if it is of powder core, it depend on the lasts time of the inrush current and the peak soft startup current.

Since the fsw=600kHz, so please use a 2.2uH inductor to check whether it could be helpful. 2.2uH can handle bigger current.
