TPS2561: Example schematic with USB connector and DFP controller

Part Number: TPS2561
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS25221

Team,

One of my customer's application needs following:

USB Type-C DFP controller supporting USB 2.0

Two ports

Current limit of 700mA on each port

Do we have any example schematic for connecting TPS2561 with USB 3.0 DFP controller? The EVM schematic shows only TPS2561 device.

Thank you in advance.

Regards,

Sanjay R. Pithadia

  • Hi Sir,

You can have a look at TPS25830Q1.

It supports type-c charging protocols with adjustable current limit.

Also can use external-FET scheme to replace TPS2561.

For TI's policy, I will first click resolved button.

If you have any other concern, contact me any time.

If you think resolved, please help click 'Issue is solved button'.

    Thanks.

  • Thanks Ziv for quick response. I have selected the DFP device already. But customer needs two ports with current limit on both. I am looking for example schematic on how to connect TPS2561 (or discrete FETs) with Type-C connectors.

Can you please help with some schematic for that?

  • Hi,

I don't have the schematic you mentioned.

But from datasheet diagram, you can see the two ports drawing current from one power source.

So I think you can you single port power switch for each type-C port, such as TPS25221 and so on.

For TI's policy, I will first click resolved button.
