BQ25886: BQ25886

Part Number: BQ25886

I've got a circuit using the BQ25886 with a 100mA to 600 ma load on Vsys.  In addition, I have a couple of 16450 batteries

attached to Vbat.  If everything is hooked up, Vsys is at 8.4 VDC.  If I pull out one of the batteries so that VBAT goes to

zero, the charger starts to cycle Vsys.  This phenomenon occurs irrespective of whether I use a laboratory supply or

a USB converter.

I have the D+ and D- lines shorted together (not connected to anything else).

This phenomenon was reported by "ajayt", and you responded by saying that Vsys should drop to Vsys_min, which is specified at 6.2 V (min.)

In my case, Vsys is dropping below 4.0 V.

Can you provide some help in troubleshooting this?

Thanks

  • Hi Tony,

It appears that the charger is cycling in and out of battery termination as it thinks the small capacitor at BAT pin is the battery.  If so, if you disable charge using the /CE pin, the cycling will stop and VSYS will regulate to Vsys_min.

    Regards,
