LM5118: [LM5118]Evaluation Board, Diode

Part Number: LM5118

Hello technical support staff

Could you please tell me why are the dual diode used in AN-1819 LM5118 Evaluation Board?

Please see diodes such as D1(MBRD1035) and D4(BV0100C) in the following figure.

Can a single diode use in this application?

Best Regards,

keisuke

  • Hi Keisuke-san,

Thank you for considering the LM5118.  Yes you can use single diode for these two positions. The dual diode was not chosen for the purpose of dual.  It is chosen for the total current conducted. Generally we don't use two individual diodes in parallel. These dual diodes are basically matched diodes in the same package, so they can almost evenly share the total current. You don't  have to use these, and single diode at each location is fine if meeting the current rating.

    Thanks,
