BQ77915: Cannot find how to calculate supporting component values

Part Number: BQ77915

Hi there,

I am a total noob. Ive designed my schematic and everything but I am having a hell of a hard time finding how I can calculate which values i need for my supporting compontnets, eg, Rin, Rocd Cin etc. I only see design examples in the datasheet and ive been searching hard for at least 2 hours. Maybe im just dumb, can someone point me in the right direction please?

Thanks!!

Michael

  • Hi Michael,

In order to help you, I'm going to need a little bit more information on your application. What specific components do you need help with?

Rin controls the cell balancing current, which controls the rate at which the cells will balance. For cell balancing currents under 50mA, we recommend using the internal cell balancing feature of the device. For currents higher than 50mA, we recommend using external cell balancing FETs. I've attached a snippet of our electrical characteristics table which shows what values we recommend for each of those scenarios. This value can be adjusted for more/less current if needed.

Rocd determines the delay on the OCD protection. See this chart (also from the datasheet) for values.
