TPS2662: FLT indication if output current is very small?

Expert 4455 points
Part Number: TPS2662

Hi,

Customer is asking following question:
In TPS2662’s datasheet, figure 30. timing waveforms. It seems that eFuse asserts fault if current through input to output is below 31mA (15mV/478mohm).

Can you confirm that ?

If it so, we can’t use FLT-pin to enable DC/DC after the eFUSE, because the “low current” fault will shut down the DC/DC with idle current.

I just ask to make sure, does it behave like this?

Thanks & BR,
KF

  • Hello KF,

The diagram that you are referring in Fig30 is for VFWDTH threshold and shows the recovery of device from reverse current blocking condition/fault. In this case, the device has already asserted fault  and and will de-assert fault when VIN-VOUT goes above 15mV.

If the device does not go in reverse blocking condition/fault [i.e VIN-VOUT < -54mV], then the device will not assert fault and VFWDTH threshold will not be applicable.
