LMG5200: Max peak current dependent of burst time

Hi team,

in this post I saw that it is okay to use LMG5200 with higher current than 10A for brief amounts of time.

Do you have a maximum peak current or diagramm showing max peak current in dependance of time as well?

Hello Franz,

Thank you for contacting us. As stated in the datasheet, the absolute max current is 10A under all conditions, and any current above that is not guaranteed to work.

Hi Yichi,

normally the datasheet also states peak currents. So is 10A the max burst current and average current should be even lower? Can it not even withstand more than 10A for really quick bursts?

I'm trying to clarify because Lixing said something contradicting your statement in this post: http://e2e.ti.com/support/power-management/f/196/t/775163?tisearch=e2e-sitesearch&keymatch=lmg5200%252525252520current.

Hello Franz,

Sorry for the confusion. 10A is meant for continuous operation. It's likely that the burst current can be higher like Lixing mentioned in the other post, but TI does not guarantee the amount of current and time period the device can withstand under burst condition.
