BQ76PL455EVM: BQ76PL455A-Q1 Evaluation Board with TMS320f28379d Communication

Part Number: BQ76PL455EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ76PL455A-Q1, TMS320F28379D, , BQ76PL455A

Hello everyone,

As far as I understood, BQ76pl455a-q1 Evaluation Board make some measurements and transmit its measurements with Serial communication. Since we have TMS320f28379d and since this component have a MATLAB model I want to use TMS320f28379d Launch Pad. Since this will be introduction to BMS I think TMS320f283d Launch Pad will be enough for controlling Contactor and measuring current with a shunt/hall effect sensor.

The significant questions that I have in my mind are;

1. Will I be able to use both of them by connecting related TX and RX pins ? Are they in accordance to each other ?

2. I could not manage to transmit data via SCIB and SCIC on TMS320F28379d. I managed to transmit via SCIA but since it is directly connected to the USB port, I have to use another SCI for data communciation with BQ76PL455EVM. How can I use SCI other than SCIA ?

3. Normally with BQ76PL455EVM, TMS570 is recommended and a sample code presented for TMS570 ? Why there is not a Matlab embedded package for TMS 570 ?

4. Is there any TI technical person that I can call or directly send an e-mail to ask such things?

Thanks.

  • Hi Yusuf,

    1) I am unclear on the question about TX, RX, please clarify this one. If the TMS320 supports UART, then yes you can connect to the RX/TX pins as you would with the TMS570.

    2) As I mentioned on the other thread, we do not provide support on this medium for porting the code to other mcus, and that would be in the hands of the mcu team forum.

    3) Again, this would be a question for the TMS570 support team rather than related to the bq76pl455a. Please create a new post tagging the TMS device rather than the 455 so those experts may support you.

    Sorry for inconvenience, if you have any questions directly related to the 455 device issues, we are happy to support..
