TPS562201: TPS562201 reverse current

Hi,

what happens when there is no voltage on VIN of TPS562201 and externally supplied 5 volts SW pin of TPS562201 (and some voltage on VFB pin via feedback divider resistors)?

In this situation I want no voltage to leak to VIN of TPS562201. Is that possible?

hi,

There is body diode parallel with high side Mosfet. So the current will flow from Vout to Vin via this body diode. You can add a diode on VIN trace to prevent it.

Do you know any step down converter with similar characteristic in the same package that will not leak VOUT to VIN?

Hi,

It is impossible, the input capacitor is charged through body diode of high-side FET.

Why do you supply 5V on SW pin? What is the end application?

This is dual supply input device. It runs etiher of USB power supply or 12 V power supply lowered to 5 V by buck converter. I will add the diode on VIN or use another converter (http://www.ti.com/lit/ds/symlink/tps62113.pdf).

What current consumption should I expect from TPS562201 when it operates in this reverse mode (no VIN and 5 V on SW pin?

Hi,

The current is decided by your application, if there is no power consumption of other circuit from VIN, I think the current is lower.
