BQ40Z60EVM-578: Is there any second-level protectors for LiFePO4 available?

Hi there,

I am using the BQ40Z60EVM-578 and want to connect LiFePO4 batteries. The reference design uses the BQ294700DSG an overvoltage protection ic (second-level protectors), which seems to fit only for li-ion batteries.

1. Is it possible to use the BQ40Z60EVM-578 with LiFePO4 batteries?

2. Is there any second-level protectors for LiFePO4 available? If not how should i connect the AFEFUSE pin of the BQ40Z60?

    Hello R D2,

    1. I would not recommend the bq40z60, please look at the bq40z50.

    2. We have secondary level protectors available, Please look at the bq299xx family of devices. Please refer to the EVM schematic for the AFEFUSE and let us know if you have more questions.
