BQ25601: About output current spec of PMID pin

Part Number: BQ25601
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ25618,

Hi,

Could you tell me about PMID pin out put current.
Customers want to use BQ25601 PMID like BQ25618 PMID function.
(Customers do not want output from VBUS using OTG.)
In that background,
Customers are looking into PMID pin specs.
Could you tell me the output current value of BQ25601 PMID pin?

Best Regards,
Yusuke

  • Hey Tsukui,

The BQ25601 PMID OTG output is similar, but not the same as the BQ25618 OTG output.

On the BQ25618, the Q1 RBFET allows the charger to detect when an input is applied to VBUS to disable OTG mode and revert back to forward buck charging mode.

On the BQ25601,Q1 is on during OTG mode, which means we cannot detect if an adapter is applied to the input.

If this behavior is fine for you, then the current limit for OTG on the BQ25601 through the PMID is limited by Q4 OCP limit of 6A (see IBATFET_OCP).

    Regards,

    Joel H
