TPS61322: TPS613221a inductor design for current limit of device.

Hi,

I need your expert advice regarding for current limit of device TPS613221a. I have used Webench design (power designer) to see the recommended components and design for my application using TPS613221a. According to the design there is a statement that "the inductor is designed for input current and not the current limit of the device".

My problem is I am using TP613221a boost converter in my project however our device does not start and it seems that boost converter is not able to deliver such a high current. The load current of our device can go in to hundreds of mA. Could you please advise a solution for this issue. Basically, I would need help to design the circuit of boost converter that would reach the maximum current limit of the device. According to the datasheet TPS613221a has a max peak switch current limit of 1.6A.

Hi Naig:

May I know is there any big cap in the output side? If there is, you may need the larger current capability inductance, as during the startup the converter need to charge the output cap. During this time, it need more current than the normal operation. If there is no such big cap, and the load is disabled during the startup, there is a chance to selector the inductance according to the load. But better checked with test.

Then back to your issue. May you share your schematic, layout and waveform with us? Including the Vin, Vout, and SW. Thank you!
