LM3435: Cg, Cb, Cr capacitor influence

Part Number: LM3435

Hi team,

Customer is using our LM3435 in their project, they get some questions about the Cg, Cb, Cr connect to the LED output:

  1. In their schematic, they connect them to GND, not connect to Vin, does this OK? What's the potential risk?
  2. If they connect the capacitor to Vin, what does the capacitor value influence the system performance?

Could you kindly give some comments to those two points?

Thanks and Best Regards,

Will

  • Hi Will,

CR, CG and CB should be connected to ground always.

I guess you are asking about the output capacitance of the LEDs.

The device has been designed such that the LED anodes connect to output (VLED) and cathodes connect to respective xLED (x = R, G or B).

In such case, as the current loop is flowing from VLED to VIN, it is always suggested to have output capacitance connects between the VLED and VIN.

You may refer to the attached application note for more information:

    Thank you!

  • Hi Issac,

Clear about this. Thanks for supporting.
