May I know if BQ25703A can work as stand-alone device (without I2C) ?

Hi Eddie,

BQ25703A can't work as a standalone charger. The charging current needs to be set through I2C.

Hi Eddie,

Which default setting are you referring to? By default the charger holds auto-wake up function, for depleted battery the charger will enable 128mA charge current to trickle charger battery voltage to minimum system voltage setting(Reg0x 0D/0C )

After battery is charged to minimum system voltage setting, the charger need host to enable charge(setting charge current). After CC/CV charge profile is completed host need to terminate charge.
