BQ25505: BQ25505 or BQ25570

Part Number: BQ25505
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ25570,

Hi,

I am designing Bluetooth beacon using CC2652 with rechargeable 300mAH 1S Li-po battery.I want to charge this battery using solar cell(indoor and outdoor).we are interfacing some sensors with CC2652 using I2c.Advertising interval is 100ms.Whole system need 3.3V. So can you please suggest an Energy harvesting IC(BQ25505 or BQ25570) for above. It could be very grateful if you also suggest smallest support solar cell.

  • Pritesh,

The advantage of the bq25570 is that it integrates a buck converter  for the system output. This system output can supply your 3.3V rail. If you decide to use the bq25505, you will have to use an external buck converter to step down your battery voltage. The advantage of the bq25505 is that a nonrechargable battery can be used to support the rechargable battery when it is depleted. Please take a look at this  solar design tool to determine how solar panel you need for your application.

    Thanks,

    Ricardo
