BQ20Z45-R1: SMbus hang up issue

Hi Team ,

my customer project's application have battery pack which use BQ20z45 as gauge and having a issue on SMbus communication.

In their using case,the processor will read the BQ20z45's data to check the information around 7 secs interval. It could run some time with no problem to read the normal read data from gas gauge, but sometime the SMbus would happen to hang up that the SMBD data line was kept low and SMBC kept high. then the communication is fail and can't recovery until remove the battery pack from processor bus and re-mount again.

please kindly help to clarify what condition will cause this issue and how to solve , thanks a lot in advance!

Does this issue occur to a multitude of bq20z45 devices? Could you provide something like scope captures? Thanks.

thanks for feedback , I'm asking for the scope to provide.

And here's further question from customer, is there's any way to read the status(HIGH/LOW) of DSG pin from register through I2C?

customer found another issue that the gas gauge will report the charging voltage drop while charging the battery , but they measure from the outside didn't found the voltage drop.
