DCR010503: damage if input supply is reverse biased?

Part Number: DCR010503

Will the DCR0105xx family of isolated converter modules be damaged if the input voltage is reverse biased (5V on Vs- and 0V on Vs+)?

Thanks,

Daniel Andersen

  • Hi Dan,

The polarity of each pin should be kept consistent in order to not damage the device. This means VS+ should have a 0V to positive voltage range and VS-(return path) could be negative voltage to 0V range. It would be okay if you put 0V on VS+ and -5V on VS- though this has not been tested.

However putting a positive voltage on the IC return path may permanently damage the device and is not recommended.
