Hi team,
My customer would like to use TPS767D301QPWPRQ1. They want to make sure how to connect the thermal pad correctly. Should they connect the thermal pad to the two GND pins( pin3 and pin9)? Thanks.

Arie

Hi Arie,
Yes, the thermal pad should be tied to GND and can be tied to pins 3 and 9.
The more copper you attach to the thermal pad, the better the thermal performance will be.
If the customer has a multilayer board, then it is encouraged to make layer 2 a GND plane.
The customer can then use via's to tie the thermal pad to the GND plane for even better thermal performance.
Thanks,
