WEBENCH® Tools/LM5022: DC-DC Converter using LM5022 or TL494 or something better

Part Number: LM5022
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LM51551, LM5155,

Tool/software: WEBENCH® Design Tools

Hi,

I want to make a DC-DC converter of 5 Volt,8 Amp output (nominal 5 Amp) from a DC 24 volt input supply. It will be isolated and using Flyback topology. So, which flyback transformer i should choose, I can't find.

which Controller IC should be the best for this purpose?

Thank You,

  • Hi Suprakash,

Thank you for considering TI products. You can use the LM5155 or LM51551 for this design, although the LM5022 also works but the LM5155/51 is our latest IC for flyback.

Regarding the transformer, if you maximum load is 5A, you can consider Coilcraft FA2898.  If your maximum load is 8A, you may need to contact  Coilcraft or other magnetics vendors directly for a recommendations.  They should be able to do a customized transformer for you if no off-the-shelf part can support your need.

    Thanks,
