LM63625-Q1: Operation between 36V to 40V

Part Number: LM63625-Q1

Hi team,

I have a question about the output behavior of LM63625-Q1 at Vin=36V to 40V.

I am considering this device for 24V battery automotive truck and worried about the behavior at load dump condition.

External protection device clamp the Vin voltage to 39V, so I would like to know how does this device behaves above

the recommended operating range(36V), but within absolute max ratings(40V).

Could you advise how does the device behaves between 36V to 40V Vin?

I don't expects to fully meet the datasheet spec, but would prefer the device is not damaged and  Vout not to increase to potentially break following devices.

regards,

  • Hi Shinji,

We suggest to use 60V buck converter in 24V battery system, the overall BOM cost maybe similar as you need to pay lot to clamp Vin below 40V accurately if 36V device is used.

Vin peak up to 40V only happens in abnormal condition, and it still below 40V Abs Max, so it's OK for LMR63625's normal operating.
