UCD3138: Automatic mode switching

Part Number: UCD3138

Dear Friends,

Happy new year. And hope you've enjoyed during the holiday.

One question about the automatic mode switch, I see the hysteresis can be configured in mode switching in UCD3138, but the upper thresh and lower thresh, in 3138 LLC demo code, were configured with the same value, it looks to me that there is no hysteresis, can you please help me know why? Thanks...

  • Jack, the hysteresis was put in in case the mode change was disruptive, so the device wouldn't oscillate back and forth across the boundary if the status was close to the boundary.

In the various LLC configurations, the mode change is seamless - there is no disruption.   In fact, adding hysteresis would cause disruption, rather than the smooth transition we get without hysteresis.

This is why we make the upper and lower thresholds the same.

  • Ian, thanks for this info.
