LM5146-Q1-EVM12V: High frequency Carrier Generation Procedure

Part Number: LM5146-Q1-EVM12V

Hi,

My goal is to generate a high frequency carrier wave using complete discrete components.

I was able to achieve 500 kHz frequency comfortably. Beyond which, I found it to be difficult using discrete components.

I observe that ICs offer MHz range frequencies of sawtooth. I just want to understand how is this done internally in an IC?

Oscillator can give sine or square wave. How is a ramp of such high frequency generated?

Thanks in advance,

Subrahmanyam.

  • Hi

Before IC was developed, discrete component was commonly used to generate waveform with freq over 100MHz like radio, TV or other communication  equipment.

Operation Amplifier is very flexible building block for many applications, you may check more reference articles for how to use it as waveform generator.
