The example layout of the datasheet of the TPS1663 states that the exposed pad should be connected to the internal GND plane using vias for thermal conductance. If possible, I would like to avoid vias in pad. In order to do this, I would like to connect the NC pins so that I can use a copper plane on top. To achieve this, the NC pins would have to be connected to GND, is this allowed? Thanks in advance.
