BQ25713: Device resets when connecting battery charger

Part Number: BQ25713

Hi

I have a design that utilizes the BQ25713 and it has a weird issue where the device will sometimes reset when I connect my USB cable from the wall. Is this an ESD thing? I realize it's impossible to tell but the ground of the cable touches the ground of my shield connector and it intermittently will reset the system when those two make contact when the device is on battery power.

My shield is tied to system ground on the board (I only have one ground) but is there a mode or state to set the charger to where the input is high impedance? All I can think is that if it's set up to get to charge and it's not charging then when you connect the ground to earth or whatever that has some potential difference that sends something into the system? I'm not sure. Any ideas?

I'll post a screen shot of my schematic shortly.

Thank you!

  • Hi There,

Thanks for asking, Could you confirm which registers are reset in above scenarios.

Note When VBUS is plugged out and in from charger, REG0x 14(Charge current); REG0x 0F/0E(IIN_host); REG0x 0B/0A VIN_DPM; REG0x 25/24(IIN_DPM) registers will all be reset automatically. Are you seeing similar behavior?

    Regards
