TPS92691: Question about IMON and IADJ setting

Guru 19645 points
Part Number: TPS92691
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS92692,

Please let me know about two points below for design IMON and IADJ,

①About IMON, is there recommended FET(and comparator) for external overcurrent protection? (Datasheet P15, figure 23)

②About IADJ, I will adjust LED current by DAC output.

For example datasheet P26 figure 32, are R16 and R17 necessary to connect? (0Ω OK?)

Best regards,

Satoshi

  • Hi Satishi,

We do not have a recommendation for the comparator or FET.  You can look at out TI comparator selection guide and choose one that is applicable for your design.

Are you using the comparator to monitor short/open circuit or fault?  If you are then it might be best to use the TPS92692 since some the fault detection is built in.

If you have a DAC output then you can just use an RC circuit to filter like 1K and 0.1uF at the TPS92691.  If you are confident that the DAC has low noise output then you can just use a small cap at the output.

    Thanks Tuan
