BQ27426: BQ27426 error triger when the temperature in

Part Number: BQ27426

Hi team,

custoemr use BQ27426 in one project and face below problem. they found the battery value will be change when the restart.

after many test, they found it may because the temperature. If they increase the BQ27426 tempature using external method, this issue can be replicated easily. Reading the measure temperature of BQ27426 detect is about 14 degree.

They use the default temperature measurment integrated in BQ27426, while the IC is placed the PCB not the battery. The temperatue of PCB is much higher than battery, which causes imexpected correction. So, they want to increase the  delta temperature value of trigger correction.

Do you have suggestions about how to set the delata temperature value or any other comments about this issue?

thank you.

  • DODatEOC Delta T controls when changes in temperature trigger a capacity simulation/recalculation.

In you case, the problem is not with when the gauge performs this update but that the gauge uses incorrect temperature. So changing this parameter will not fix your problem.

It's important that the temperature is close to the cell temperature (not the PCB temperature) so if the PCB temperature isn't similar to the cell temperature then you must not use the internal temperature sensor but an external thermistor that is attached to the cell instead.

  • Dear   Dominik:

Thank's for your reply, it's a critical message.

But there's no time to change the design,so we expect a best solution without changing the hardware design, and your suggestion will be of great help to us.

  • Hello User,

There is no compensation for temperature in FW. Can you see if internal temperature is closer to the real cell temperature?

If not, I highly recommend placing the thermistor close to the cell.
