TPS53681: How to make TPS53681 + 6*CSD95495QVM 6 phase just have one phase output without doing balance load

Part Number: TPS53681
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CSD95495QVM,

Hi,

For some thermal concern of CSD95495QVM, we would like to do some experiment to just put max load  25A on one phase and check if need to add thermal solution for it.

Is there any way to turn off TPS53681 load balance on 6 phase and just let one phase workable?

Thanks,

Kent

  • Hello, to reduce the phase number to 1 phase, you can either pull-up CSP2 to 3.3V at power-on, or turn-on the VR using all 6 phases, then issue the MFR_SPECIFIC_20 command as described on pg 136 of the Technical Reference Manual. This can be done through the "All config" tab of our Fusion Digital Power Designer GUI or through any other means of PMBus/I2C communication you might have.

  • Hi Kent,

    Please follow the procedure below.

    1. Connect TI USB-to GPIO bus to the board

    2. Open TI fusion GUI

    3. In Rail #1, jump to "All Config", then find "MFR_SPECIFIC_20", change this one to "Single Phase" then "Write to Hardware"

Regardless of enable status, you can change it anytime.

    Thanks
