BQ76952: How to use standalone?

Part Number: BQ76952
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQSTUDIO,

Hi TI team,

My customer want to design BQ76952 in standalone mode.

1. I expect to OTP as standalone. it is right?

2. Do you have a standalone mode guide or standalone mode SCH? If you have any helpful information, please share it with us.

3. When is RTM of BQ76952?

Thanks & Regards

Downey Kim.

  • Hi Downey,

    1. Yes.  To operate standalone set the desired cells, protection and other configuration, FET_EN and program to OTP.  After configuration and programming I2C can be left or pulled low.

    2. Not at this time.  The data sheet and EVM schematics are not specific to standalone operation.  The simplified schematics may omit components you want in your design.  The EVM schematic will have components which are not needed.

    3. RTM is planned end of 3Q20

  • Hi,

Thank you for your quick reply. I have more questions.

I installed BQSTUDIO but there is no information about BQ76952. the document(slua991) states that BQSTUDIO should be used.

    1. How to set up BQ76952 in BQSTUDIO? do you have BQ76952.bqz file?

    2. Where can I find examples of CCS required for BQ76952EVM?

If you don't already have it, when do you plan to release it?

    Thanks

  • Hi Downey,

The BQ76952 bqz file should be installed with the latest version of BQStudio. Make sure you are using the latest version of BQStudio (v1.3.97) which is labeled BQSTUDIOTEST. This version is required for the BQ76952. http://www.ti.com/tool/BQSTUDIO  Here is the bqz file link below. Let me know if it was not automatically installed with BQStudio for some reason, and I will follow up with our software team.

I am working on example code for CCS that should be available by the end of the month.

    Best regards,
