TPS54160: PWRGD Feature

Hi,

The PWRGD feature is mentioned in TPS54160 data sheet as follows. So, could you please tell me the time until PWRGD is asserted and de-asserted when the threshold is exceeded?
Additionally, please also tell me the minimum output pulse width for PWRGD.

Hi Kato,

there is about 0.2us low pass RC filter delay on Vsense signal to Power Good comparator input, the PWRGD output is triggered by Vsense directly without other delay time or minimum output pulse width.

Thank you for the information.

If the output voltage changes instantaneously such as 0.5V@2us, PWRGD may not respond. What is the reason for this?

Hi Kato,

The R/C filter time constant is about 0.2us, NOT 2us, so PWRGD will response (toggle High or Low) even if output variation trigger the threshold with 2us.

Hi Andy-san,

Thank you for your prompt reply.

According to customer feedback, PWRGD may not be asserted or de-asserted if the output voltage slightly exceeds the threshold voltage with a change of 2us.
So, have you had a similar experience in the past?

Unfortunately, I don't get screenshots from our customer. So, could you please replicate this symptom with TPS54160EVM-230 ?

Hello Kato,

Please confirm whether the customer is using custom EVM or TI EVM?

And I would ask the customer to provide the screenshots for efficient debugging of the issue, we have to see what customer is concerned about.

Our customer tested the prototype board.
I discussed the PWRGD feature with him and closed this issue. So, I will contact you if I get additional questions from him.
