TPS63070: Maximum value of start up time

Part Number: TPS63070

Hi team,

My customer has a question about the start up time of TPS63070.

The datasheet defines the typical start up delay(tdelay) and soft start time(tSS).

What is the maximum value of tdelay and tSS for buck mode? The condition is the same as the datasheet.

Regards,

Saito

  • Hello Saito-san,

We do not guarantee the maximum values for these timings because they are dependent on the used external components. The typical values are measured with the external components used for the typical characteristics in the application section.

Why does your customer need the maximum values for these parameters? Maybe we can solve the need differently.

  • Hi Brigitte-san,

Customer say they don't need a guarantee for the maximum value. They need just a reference / estimated value.

How much persentage do you expect it to increase above the typical value?

They have some devices needed to start control as soon as TPS63070 is started up. So, they need to know the worst case of the start-up time.

    Regards,

    Saito

  • Hi Saito-San,

just checked the data and at room temperature you can assume 100us as a max value.

    regards,

    Moritz

  • Hi Moritz-san,

Thank you for checking the data. I believe 100us(max) is for t_delay.

How about start up time tss for buck-mode?

    Regards,

    Saito

  • Hi Saito-san,

    sorry for the delay.

    Yes, you're right, my mistake

as discribed above the ss-time is depending on the components you are using and the current ramp which comes from the current limit during start up. Giving you a value for the max time is not possible, as this depends on your conditions, like load. See here.

One reference value I can give you is roughly 650us @ VIN=12V, VOUT=7V, ILOAD=1A, which is the worst case I've seen during my measurements. However this cannot be garantueed and is only at room temp.

    Hope this helps.

    regards,

    Moritz

  • Hi Moritz-san,

Thank you for taking the measurement data.

I will use it as a reference value, not guaranteed.

    Regards,

    Saito
