TPS650861: The force PWM mode confirm.

Part Number: TPS650861

Hello,

I'm using the TPS650861, for buck1, the VIN=12V, Vout=0.6V, the output current is about 100mA, the mode is set to force PWM, but the waveform is as attached file, the yellow color is the Vsw, could you help to confirm it's in the force PWM mode?  In my opinion, the force PWM should be always in a fixed working frequency instead of variable frequency.

Best Regards,

Jing Wei

  • Hi Jing Wei,

That does not appear to be Force PWM mode. Your opinion is correct that in Force PWM there should be no gaps, it should be consistently switching.

Is the OTP memory of the TPS650861 programmed to Force PWM or are you modifying it by I2C after boot? My thought is if it is just set by I2C, it is possibly being reset between the write and the measurement so it is really in Auto mode. Are you able to read after taking the measurement to confirm?
