BQ27426: / easiest FW crossover part in bigger package?

Hi there, 

we use the BQ27426 on our wearables devices. 

We are now working on the infrastructure of our system for which the product is more an industrial-type product (so quite a large PCB) and the BGA package is forcing us to use via in pads which massively pushes the cost of our PCB up! 

So  I am looking to move to a chip with a bigger package - whilst not generating too much work for my FW team... Any recommendations? 

The BQ27441-G1 looks like a good replacement option from a HW perspective but how about in terms of the driver?
