TPS62823: External Resistor for EN Pin

Part Number: TPS62823

Hello team,

Would you mind telling me why the external 100k resistor is added VIN to EN?

I assume that the EN pin has an internal resistor, and the small current is always going through it if there's no external resistor.

This will cause more power consumption, therefore external resistor is added.

If this is correct, could you also suggest the resistor value for it? Or please tell me the reason for adding this resistor.

Thank you,

Kazuki Kitajima

  • Hi Kitajima-san,

First, the Enable pin does not have an internal pull-up resistor to make the pin in High level unless it is tied directly to VIN. The 100K resistor is use to ensure that that Enable pin is NOT left floating in case the Enable is switch ON or OFF (thru JP1). See the note in the datasheet below.

User has the options to connect Enable pin directly to VIN to avoid additional power dissipation on the resistor in actual application.

    Best regards,

  • Hi Excel-san,

Understood. The customer connects EN pin directly to VIN so we are going to recommend no resistor added to their circuit.

    Thank you for your support!
