TPS2595: What is the Standby Current and Operating Current of TPS2595?

Part Number: TPS2595
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS2121

Hi Experts,

I am looking for a power switch. Iout =3A Max, working voltage= 1~6Vmax, automatic power switch.

I need check to the Standby Current(<0.5uA) and Operating Current(<60uA) spec, I found TPS2595 close to my spec, but according to the datasheet, I am not sure which is the Standby Current and Operating Current.

Can you make me clear on these two spec?

And do you have other recommend PN for my application?

Thank you!

Rachel

  • Hi Rachel,

Do you want the device to operate at a minimum of 1V ?

What do you mean by stand by current ? Do you enable the device but do not have any current flow through it ?

  • Hi Rachel,

Iq , IN quiescent current is the current flowing into the IN pin when the part has Vin power supply and it is enabled but at no load condition.

Isd, IN shutdown current  is the current flowing into the IN pin when the part has Vin power supply but the part is disabled.

When you refer to stand by current, do you disable the part ? If yes, Isd is the current that you are looking for.

  • Hi Rachel,

Hope your query is answered. In case you do not have further questions, can we close this thread ?

  • Hi Praveen,

Thank you and sorry for late reply.

Yes, I want device to operate at a minimum of 1V, and the meaning of my 'Standby current' is the current flowing into the IN pin when the part has Vin power supply but the part is disabled.

And I still have two questions:

    1. Do you have any recommend power switch device to my application?

Iout =3A Max, working voltage= 1~6Vmax, automatic power switch.

    Standby Current(<0.5uA) and Operating Current(Iq<60uA) .

    2. Is the Isby spec in other power mux datasheet like TPS2121 also means the current flowing into the IN pin when the part has Vin power supply but the part is disabled?

    Thank you!

    Rachel

  • Hi Rachel,

The closest device that I was able to find for your requirement is TPS22963. The maximum recommended operating voltage for this part is 5.5V. Do let me know if you are interested in TPS22963, so that I can connect you to the right contact.

Regarding your question on TPS2121,  Isby is the current flowing into the INx pin when the INx is not connected to OUT. For example if IN1 is connected to OUT, the current flowing into IN2 will be Isby.
