BQ76930: Device comparison among BQ769x2, BQ76930, BQ78350 in price and measurement accuracy

Part Number: BQ76930
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ76925, , BQ76942

Hi expert,

My customer would like to pick a battery monitor device for 8 series. They used to use BQ76925 in less battery number. Could you help me compare below devices on measuring accuracy and cost?

Thanks

Sheldon

  • Hi Sheldon,
For a 8s battery, your options are BQ76930 (Active) and BQ76942 (preview).

BQ76942 is our most recent device and has a better accuracy than BQ76930. The info is in the data sheet (1st page).

You can use the 1ku price to have a 1st idea about pricing.

  • Hello,

I'm working with Portuguese SIemens Mobility Group for the implementation of a new rent electrical bikes in Lisbon CIty (Portugal). We are developing a new BMS (10S4P 2.2Ah Li-ion batteris) and we are very interesting in using the new IC cell monitor BQ76942 (we had used on previous versions the bq7693003DBT).

Seems the BQ76942 is yet in prototyping stage. Since this is a relatively big project with the implementation of about 4000 bikes in the first year we need to be sure that the BQ76942 will not be discontinued or there will be at least an pin to pin compatible version in the near future.

I know that this could be a difficult question, but could you advise me if we should proceed with the project of the BMS board with the BQ76942?

    Best regards,

    Eduardo Pinto

  • hi Eduardo,

Thank you for your interest in BQ76942. You can use BQ76930 or BQ76942: it depends on your schedule.

BQ76942 will go to production later this year.
